From Odoo 14 onwards we miss an option that existed in previous versions : Obtener Bajo Pedido (MTO/Make to Order).
What is it?
It consists of the possibility of purchasing any product on demand, without the need to store it. This can be done in both Sales and Manufacturing, and encourages Odoo to place a purchase order instead of pulling inventory.
This option can be used for perishable products, which are difficult to store because they are highly customized, or simply because we cannot or are not interested in managing a warehouse.
How to activate it?
For this option to appear in the item's file, we must:
For this option to appear in the item's file, we must: have the Purchasing, Inventory and Sales/Production applications installed.
have the Multi-stage Routes option checked in the Inventory Settings.
in Inventory/Settings/Routes we filter by Archived and voila, the Get to Order (MTO) route appears. We just have to unarchive it
in the tab of the product that we want to operate under this behavior, we will check Get to Order (MTO) in the Inventory tab, and Buy or Manufacture, depending on our interests
in the same product sheet, in the Purchase tab, we will have to add a supplier, which will be the supplier of the resulting Request for Quotation.
In this way, when we confirm a Sales Order, we will see how it creates a Purchase Request for the product, and when we receive the goods from the supplier, we can continue with the sales process.
We hope you found it helpful!
