A morning in The Cloud

Visiting a Data Center

I was looking forward to visiting Walhalla, the Data Center located at the UJI in Castellón, one of the few (very few) in Spain with Data Tier IV category. And of those in this privileged category, the largest. Did I say large? It's huge!!

Once I arrived at the UJI I met a professor friend, who curiously was running inside the Campus, and was amazed at my visit: but can you see that? Yes, so we know where and how our data and our clients' data are located..

What does Data Tier IV mean?

In a TIER IV Data Center, all the elements are redundant with independent circuits to always guarantee the supply, both electrical and data. These circuits are only joined in the server room, the rest of the building replicates identical rooms for power supply, communication and cooling rooms, etc.

The visit revealed a large building in which no expense has been spared for quality and safety, with large spaces that allow maneuvering with any machine without any difficulty. To access each room it was only possible with the use of cards and a fingerprint; when we visited the large server room (big and beautiful) we met a technician who was doing maintenance work in a wide corridor, not common in Data Centers.

I was looking forward to visiting Walhalla  I was looking forward to visiting T2B Tech2BusinessWe spent a pleasant morning with people from the industry, technicians from other companies, and I put faces to the technicians from Walhalla and T2B Tech2Business who support us - and support us..

A pleasure, with mornings like this it's good to be an IT guy.
